1 How do I enrol my furbaby in My Vet Doggy Daycare?
To enrol in our doggy daycare, all furbabies are required to have an assessment by one of our trained professionals. This is for the safety and wellbeing of all furbabies that attend My Vet Doggy Daycare.
Our assessment protocol has been carefully tailored by our Delta Accredited Dog Training Consultant.
You can book a trial assessment day here. The assessment fee is free.
Kindly note, our daycare facilities are tailored specifically for smaller to medium-sized (under 15kg) dogs. This specialization ensures a safe and joyful environment for all our furry friends while receiving the utmost care.
2. What is involved during my furbaby’s initial assessment?
You and your furbaby will need to stay for at least 30-45 minutes to complete the initial assessment. During this time, our trained pack leader will start with a thorough history of your furbaby’s health.
Following this, your furbaby will join our team members in a separate room to assess their tolerance for separation from their pawrents. During this time, a complete nose-to-tail assessment is completed to determine how your furbabies react to touch.
Now it’s time to make some new friends! The next step will involve a play session with existing doggy daycare members to determine how comfortable they are with their new fur-friends. This is to determine their suitability for open-play environments.
Throughout this process, if any issues are observed, our pack leader will recommend a tailored plan to help address these.
If at any point, your pup might be a little nervous (like our first day at school!), we might recommend coming back for another complimentary visit and assessment.
3. How old does my furbaby have to be to attend My Vet Doggy Daycare?
If your puppy is allowed to be out in public areas (once your vet has given you the green light), they are welcome to learn, grow and party with us!
4. What vaccinations and flea/worming preventions are required?
Keeping your furbaby safe and healthy is our utmost priority. As such all furbabies over 12 weeks of age must be up to date with:
Any recent vaccinations must be given a minimum of 7 days prior to attending My Vet Doggy Daycare.
5. How can I make sure my furbaby is safe and comfortable?
We have really put a lot of thought into ensuring your furbaby’s health and safety is our utmost priority. We have implemented:
At My Vet Doggy Daycare, we strive to create a safe environment for all furbabies, but we understand that not every dog will get along. Our team is highly trained to understand dog body language, and if we see that an animal is becoming agitated and aggressive, we will take all required steps to remove that furbaby from the situation before it can escalate.
6. Does my dog need to be desexed?
At My Vet Doggy daycare, our focus is on the health and safety of all furbabies that come and play with us. To avoid any potential aggressive behaviours and/or accidental mating between furbabies, all furbabies over 7 months of age* must be desexed.
*12 months for certain breeds pending a medical letter from your veterinarian
7. What’s the difference between full day or half day?
Half day of doggy daycare is any visit up to 5 hours from the time of drop-off.
Full day of doggy daycare is any visit exceeding 5 hours from the time of drop-off.
Please be mindful of any late pick-ups for half-day bookings exceeding 15 minutes, as these will incur a full-day charge instead.
8. Would you recommend doggy day care if my furbaby is anxious?
It is important to remember an anxious furbaby is not a happy furbaby! At My Vet Doggy Daycare, we want our furry friends to only have an absolutely positive experience.
Any furbaby that has been assessed as anxious will be referred to our Delta Accredited dog trainer, Kim Doran, to prepare them to be suitable for doggy daycare.
9. What should I do in the meantime with my anxious furbaby?
Most furbabies with anxiety are much better suited to private group walking sessions.
Our experienced staff members will guide you and discuss the suitability of your furbaby if you have any concerns!
10. What do I need to bring for my furbaby at drop-off?
For the safety of all furbabies during drop off times, we require all furbabies arriving in the greeting area to be on lead, with a well fitted collar or harness.
11. How do drop-off and pick-up times work?
Drop-off
We know how busy your schedule can be and it’s important to be flexible! Our drop-off time for full-day attendees is between 7:30 am and 9:00 am. For furbabies attending our daycare for half-day activities, you can always organise a dedicated drop-off time with one of our friendly staff.
We understand that sometimes your schedule might change and if you need drop-off times outside of these hours, let one of our friendly staff know, and we will be more than happy to accommodate the best we can.
Pick-up
Our last pick-up time for all furbabies is at 6:00 pm. The exact pick-up time will be scheduled with our friendly staff at booking.
Please be mindful that there is a late pick-up fee of $15 after 6.15pm
12. What if I’m running late for pick-up?
If you are running late, we will attempt to contact you and your secondary contact. We will continue to try to reach you and your secondary contact until 6:30 pm.
At 6:30 pm (at which we are now closed for business), to ensure the safety of your furbaby, we will transfer the care of your furbaby to My Vet Zetland.
Please keep in mind that any fees incurred for a hospital stay at My Vet Zetland will be at the owner’s expense.
13. Do I get updates throughout the day?
Of course! We are very active on our social media and will be posting regular updates via our social media platform. Keep an eye on our social media because your furbaby might be the next Supaw-star Furbaby of the week!
14. My furbaby has special medical needs, can they still come to doggy daycare?
Here at My Vet Doggy Daycare, we welcome all furbabies, including those with special needs! This includes if there are any regular medications required to be given.
We do require a letter from your veterinarian stating your furbaby suitability to be in doggy daycare, but other than that, it’s pawty time!
